I feel like I have blogged about this pub before?! I can’t see it anywhere but am back again today so blog or no blog, it was obviously great.
The Running Mare is a family owned free house, situated just off the A3 in Cobham, Surrey. As I said, we have been here before and I think it’s partially because it looks out onto the lovely Tilt Green.
“we pride ourselves on the warmth of our welcome, the excellence of our beers and taste and quality of our food. We have recently undergone a total refurbishment, keeping our friendly bars and feel whilst adding a softer, more contemporary look to our dining areas”
Bradley wanted to watch the England v Wales game so had booked a table (by the tv) at the beginning of the week for 4 of us. We ended up being a party of 2 and, as booked, our table was right under the screen in our own personal space which we loved!
I haven’t had a full meal all week, I have been gravely ill (flu) and have been living on soups so this, as you can imagine, I was excited for.
The menu is somewhat limited on a Sunday with the standard on offer including a variety of roast dinners and quite randomly a whole lobster (£22.95) & Moules Frites (£11.50). Unfortunately, by the time we ordered, the beef was no more. They were however making more and if we wanted it, it was to be an hour wait which is great, if we could wait! We were starving so went for the roast chicken (me) and roast lamb (Bradley).
Both were priced at the standard price it would seem for a roast ( £13.95 chicken/£14.95 lamb).
The portions are huge and I couldn’t finish mine. They both came with 4 different types of vegetables, loads of roast potatoes which were perfectly cooked and, an additional Yorkshire pudding we requested.
Drinks wise, I had soda water however Bradley got through 4 pints of Guinness. The total the bill came to &55.00 which I think is partially due to the fact that I am not drinking wine but still reasonable.
We will definitely come back. There is a lovely garden area which will be wonderful in the summer. The staff are amazing and very attentive and the whole feel of the pub is just cosy.
