Arriving a the Garden Cliff Resort & Spa yesterday for a few days of leave was never going to be just leave. We event managers can never go to a hotel and just sit back and relax. Every detail is unfortunately scrutinized, from the check in procedure to how fast they bring you your coconut water and as much as I try not to do it, I secretly don’t want to stop!
The Garden Cliff Resort & Spa is located on Pattaya Naklua Road, Pattaya in Thailand and for ease of reference, is about a 15 minute taxi ride from the bright lights of Pattaya city. As soon as my taxi pulled up, I knew it was going to be lovely. Grand high raked ceilings with a huge open plan reception area with a view of not only the pool but, the ocean, is always going to leave a great first impression and it did. The front desk staff were super nice and very efficient which whilst it pains me to say, has not always been my experience when travelling in this region.
The hotel has a variety of room types available and as I am travelling alone and not really bothered about a romantically styled room, I have gone for the standard (£45.00) per night which is amazing. It has a huge double bed, a balcony looking out over the front of the hotel and a fabulous bathroom with a sliding screen so I can watch German MTV from the bath!
The other rooms are priced at £65.00 for a deluxe room with a sea view or £170.00 for a room with your own private plunge pool which I would definitely get if I were to come here with Bradley! There are further options available and I would recommend booking through Expedia, as that was were I found the cheapest rate. You can book through Expedia here.
The hotel features 2 x pools which whilst I have been here have been completely empty, one with a swim up bar which I obviously had to try out for purposes of this blog. The beach is no more than 1 minute walk away which you can see whilst laying in the infinity pool and is cordoned off as a somewhat private beach. Again, as with the pool. Whilst I was here there was only 1 person I ever saw on the beach.
As this is the Grand Cliff Resort & Spa, a spa trip was obviously necessary again, and for the purposes of this blog and I did. From May to June there is a buy one get one free package and whilst I would consider this spa perhaps even twice the price of massage places in Pattaya. It’s worth it for the experience and not to have to worry about someone nicking off with your bag whilst your semi-naked whilst thankfully no one did to me as I obviously had to try a massage there too.
In Pattaya city, down a back alley, a 60 minute oil massage set me back roughly £9.00, at the hotel spa, the same massage was £17.00 but at buy one get one free with my facial, the same price!
The hotel has a variety of meeting and conference spaces, alongside several restaurants both inside and outside for delegates and guests. I would send a very small incentive trip here but personally, I would recommend this hotel for a short getaway or a honeymoon as it is very well priced and at the moment, bar a few Russians and one Japanese man whom was so impressed with my swimming technique he asked me to show him how to swim better! (if you are reading this Bradley he was about 60)! very very empty. Last night I had an amazing meal (read more about dining alone here) and have had all manner of room service. the quality of the food is outstanding!
They play the same 10 songs, all day, really loud at the bar but apart from that, I am loving it.
8/10 for honeymoons
8/10 for short breaks
6/10 for MICE
