I just met Mark Hix. By met I mean I saw him & shouted “Hi Mark” in the wine seller of his latest venture, Hixtor Bankside.
Hixter is now open on the Bankside, just south of the Borough Market and it is FAB. In fact so fab, I have literally been raving about it since I had lunch there earlier today to everyone and anyone, even the postman!
A few work colleagues and I headed over for lunch today and we loved it. The restaurant Manager Scottie Valentine (hope I’ve got this right) was so warm and welcoming as soon as we arrived. We asked to see the private spaces and were very impressed. The private dining area on the first floor has it own private bar and can seat 50 for dinner. There is a further bar downstairs that would be perfect for a drinks reception for up to 200. The whole venue boasts an array of specially commissioned art and the piece in the main restaurant covering the bulk of one of the walls is just mesmerizing.
I was starving by the time we arrived and we all went straight for mains. For only £9.75 you can treat yourself to “The Cock & Bull”(half steak, half chicken and a shed load of chips). For followers of my blog know, I do love me a tasty burger and I had the Ground Rib steak burger and chips (£9.95) which was served without bun (good for the wedding diet) and salsa that reminded me of something but I can’t quite put my finger on it…
The menu items for Monday to Friday are all priced within £9.75 – £12.95) which is on par with what you would spend on Pret and a whole lot tastier (I love Pret FYI, just not every day). Hixter also has a pre-theatre menu which is a set 3 courses including a can of Hobo lager?! Full menu’s can be found here!
I seriously have not been excited to go back to restaurant as soon as I walked out the door but with Hixter, I am. I can’t wait to take my fiancée back, I think he will love it as well!

Will I go back? YES – hopefully next week if I can find an excuse for it.
